American Persimmon (WS)

Known as the "Fruit of the Gods" and is loved by the wildlife. This fruit is also used for a variety of foods, beer and brandy. This very attractive medium-sized yard tree with appealing yelllow cream, bell shaped flowers will produce meduim sized fruits that when fully ripe will be very sweet with a taste of honey. Golden orange in color with a soft, smooth texture that is somewhat astringent. Some are self fertile but needs a pollinator. Zone 5-9. Chill hours of 100. Ripens in the fall.
